Kalaripayattu & Yoga


The ancestor of Judo, Kung Fu, and Karate, Kalari is one of India's great gifts to the world. It also forms the perfect trinity with yoga and Ayurveda. Weapons such as swords and spears are used by our instructors for demonstration purposes only. Entry level Kalari focuses on stretching, flexibility, and self-defense.

Learn about this ancient system of medicine in our test garden, on foraging tours of cloud forests and spice plantations, and through classes on traditional food preparation in our kitchen.




Outdoor Adventures

  • Trekking and environmental education in Chinnar Wildlife Refuge
  • Harvesting fruits and vegetables and caring for animals at our own organic farm and dairy
  • Rock climbing in the surrounding mountains
  • Campfire skills over evening meals al fresco

  • Exploring pristine waterfalls and natural rock pools with trained lifeguards
  • Fishing and boating on our lake in traditional vallams




Language Immersion


Upon request, campers can receive immersion in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati and a variety of other languages. They will be placed in language-specific living groups overseen by camp counselors who are native speakers. Campers can also opt for one-on-one conversation practice.




Oxford Lectures


In consultation with the, Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies, Camp Cardamom hosts discussions on Indian history, religion, and culture designed to contextualize our experiential learning program. Questions that may be asked, to name a few: What do ancient texts say about environmental conservation? How did yoga transform from a mind-dominant exercise to an agility-based one? How did it pass that Ayurveda, like Hinduism, is now vegetarian dominant, while the history books describe a quite different carnivorous past? What are the uniting strands of Indian thought in Indian Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Hinduism, and Buddhism? In 2019 Camp Cardamom hosted a visiting scholar from OCHS, and will soon announce details for 2020.

Pagoda Run

What is PagodaFest?


PagodaFest is about and for Pagoda enthusiasts worldwide. These are the people who own the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL, 250 SL and 280 SL and want to learn more about the cars. It is also about getting to know the people behind the cars; their stories, their trials, their tribulations, and the fun they have. So join us for two days of Pagoda fun!




Where is PagodaFest 2019 being held?


PagodaFest will be held in San Diego County, California. Among the venue locations will be The Flower Fields at Carlsbad, Encinitas Ranch Golf Resort, and the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa.




How soon should I buy my PagodaPASS?


There are a limited number of PagodaPasses. Purchase early to reserve your spot.




What is included in the PagodaPASS ticket?


The PagodaPass entitles ticket holder to all events at PagodaFest. This includes Tech Sessions, PagodaFest Market, Showcase, Pagoda Run. On Friday, a continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. On Saturday a continental breakfast, dinner and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. A lunch will not be provided on Saturday. You can grab lunch at your convenience during the Poker Run. Please see "Info" page on website for more detail.




Do I need to bring my Pagoda?


No. But it will be more fun if you do :)




Can I bring a non Pagoda car?


Yes. Non Pagoda's are welcome. But you must wear the "Scarlet P" around your neck for the event :)




Can I just come for the dinners?


Unfortunately no.




Call I sell/trade my old parts at PagodaFest?


Yes. This is the PagodaFest Market. We will have tables to set up for the casual seller/trader. Feel free to sell out of your car also :) You can be as organized or casual as you want.




What can my family do while I'm at PagodaFest?


If some of your family doesn't enjoy all things PagodaFest, San Diego is a resort town. There is plenty to do. Shopping, Beaches, San Diego Zoo, San Diego Zoo Safari Park, LEGOLAND® to name just a few.




What is the PagodaFest Market?


We will have tables to set up for the casual seller/trader. Feel free to sell out of your car. We hope to have several of your favorite Pagoda vendors attend also.




What is the PagodaFest Showcase?


PagodaFest attendees will be able to show off and talk about their cars in a casual atmosphere. Prizes will be awarded. People's Choice and Car With Most Potential to name just a few.




I can't make it but can I donate to PagodaFest?


Yes. To make PagodaFest the best it can be, you are welcome to donate to the event. There is a "Donate" button on the bottom of the home page.




Are PagodaPASSes limited?


Yes. PagodaPASSes will be limited. Buy yours early.




What is the dress code?


San Diego is a casual city. Shorts, jeans, flip flops, or what every makes you comfortable. The dinner events will be casual and be partially outdoors. Dress appropriately for the weather. We suggest bringing a jacket or sweater, as it can get cool along the coast after the sun has set. October is one of the most beautiful months in San Diego. It's always a good idea to check the weather report.




Is there a Pagoda repair shop nearby just in case?


There are several Mercedes dealerships and independent service shops close by.




I bought a PagodaPASS but now I can't go. How do I get a refund?


If you cannot use or must cancel your tickets you must contact PagodaFest and request a refund. Refunds will be made through PayPal and credited back to the source of the funds. PAGODAPASS TICKETS ARE 100% REFUNDABLE IF REQUESTED BEFORE MAY 1, 2019, AND 50% REFUNDABLE IF REQUESTED BEFORE AUGUST 1, 2019. TICKETS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE IF REQUESTED ON OR AFTER AUGUST 1, 2019. TICKETS PURCHASED ON OR AFTER AUGUST 1, 2019, ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE AND CANNOT BE CANCELLED.




How do I buy PagodaFest T-shirts & Hats?


PagodaFest has partnered with the same company that supplies our sl113.org hats and shirts. You will order and buy directly from them and receive your items at PagodaFest. Please see the Merchandise page on this website.

Do I have to stay at the event hotel?


No. There are many hotels in the area at different price points. San Diego is a resort town and October is busy month. Please see Info page for more hotel choices or use the hotel booking website of your choice. Book early.

All of the PagodaPASSes are sold out. Is there a waitlist?


Yes. After all PagodaPASSes have been sold, PagodaFest will maintain a waitlist of persons wishing to purchase PagodaPASSes. PagodaPASS tickets that are canceled or refunded will be then offered for purchase to the next in line person on the waitlist. Full members of Pagoda SL Group, Inc. will be given “top of the list” privileges by being added to the top of the waitlist, subject to other full members already on the waitlist.




Will my pagoda have a secure parking space?


The event hotel (GPP) has ungerground parking for guests. We have also secured an additional 20 underground parking spaces for non guests.
